Researchers used hand-held Radio Antenna tower to track animals many years ago. Now, a small Radio Transmitters can be fitted with the body of animals to analyze the data. The technology can also be used to monitor elephants and king cobras in India to whales at Atlantic ocean.The more advanced technology uses low altitude Satellite to capture the data. The latest technology uses more advanced gadgets to study habitat, migration patterns among the animals.Global Positioning System:
GPS is commonplace now a days in our day to day life. GPS is used widely to track wildlife, specially marine animals, fishes etc because they travel long distance and spend time under water.
Remote Cameras:
Nest box cameras are very popular today in order to watch nesting birds. You can also use cell phone cameras to capture the movement of animals in real time.
Cell Phone Technology:
All of the towers that are used for communication among cell phones users can also be used to track wild animals. The ability to follow small songbirds had been restricted by the size of the equipment the birds would need to carry. Small units are getting more cheaper day by day and the data loss is much less due to the increase of cell phone towers.
